About Pleystowe BESS

Introducing the Pleystowe Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a cutting-edge energy project located at 244 Pleystowe School Road, Pleystowe, approximately 2.5 kilometers northwest of Walkerston and 13 kilometers west of Mackay in Queensland. This BESS will play a pivotal role in transforming the region’s energy landscape.

With a proposed capacity of 200 MWac, the Pleystowe BESS will integrate seamlessly with the existing grid infrastructure, enhancing grid stability and resilience while supporting the transition towards a more sustainable, efficient power system.

The Pleystowe BESS exemplifies a commitment to clean energy innovation, contributing to the future of renewable energy and the long-term reliability of power in the region.

Community involvement is crucial for the success of renewable energy projects in Queensland. By working closely with the local community from the outset, we can address concerns, incorporate feedback, and ensure the project aligns with community needs, leading to broader understanding and support.

As Australia advances towards a sustainable future, projects like the Pleystowe Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will play a pivotal role in reducing carbon emissions, supporting local employment, and contributing to the global shift towards cleaner energy.

We warmly invite the local community to be part of the development process for the Pleystowe BESS. Your feedback is vital to the success of this project, and we encourage you to share your thoughts as we work together to create a more sustainable and resilient energy future.

The Pleystowe BESS project is now in the Public Notification period. Submissions can be made to Mackay Regional Council via mail (PO Box 41, Mackay QLD 4740) or email (council@mackay.qld.gov.au) from 15 September to 7 October 2025.
